Photo Challenge....Day 20!

I will admit that I had to look up the definition of today's challenge... bokeh! According to Wikipedia it is....
"n photography, bokeh (play /ˈboʊkə/ boh-kə, Japanese: [boke]) is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light." Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some lens designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting—"good" and "bad" bokeh, respectively. Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field. Photographers sometimes deliberately use a shallow focus technique to create images with prominent out-of-focus regions."
You learn something new every day!

I found this wildflower at my inlaws house yesterday!

Photo Challenge....Day 19!

Today's challenge was "something orange". I love this flower that I found in my father-in-laws greenhouse. He breeds orchids, and I was overwhelmed with the beauty I saw in the flowers today. Here are some more for your to enjoy....I got a little camera happy!

Photo Challenge Catch Up

Day 15 was a silhouette. Here is Cameron.... Not quite the perfect silhouette, but close enough, and I like the picture!

Day 16 was a long exposure...still haven't done this one...I have to figure out how to do it on my camera.

Today I technology...so today is a picture of our keyboard. I am so thankful for our computer that makes the miles between the ones we love a little shorter!

Photo Challenge....Day 11!

Today's challenge was something blue. I took a picture of Cameron's eye. Even though he looks like a little Andrew his eyes are the same color as mine! I liked today's challenge because it also gave me an excuse to play with my macro lens that my wonderful husband got me for Christmas!

Photo Challenge....Day 10!

Today's challenge was to take a picture of a childhood memory. When I came around the corner and saw Cameron sitting in the bucket I knew I had my picture.
When we were younger for some reason we had some really a big bucket in our backyard to play with. I remember my youngest sister pretending it was her own "pool". She had so much fun with it!
It also brought another memory to mind....we watched a little girl, Julie, for about a year when I was in highschool. Julie was just under 1 years old and loved to sit in our Tupperware to play!

Photo Challenge....Day 9!

Today's instructions were to take a picture of someone you love. This may sound trite, but I love God. I love Him because He is faithful when I am faithless. He is love when I am not loveable. He is patient when I am not. His love has no conditions, no requirements and is completely pure in motive and action.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life." John 3:16

Photo Challenge....Day 4!

Today's challenge was something green. I chose to take a picture of our little container garden, because seeing this green makes me smile! We have sugar snap peas, basil and marigolds in it. We grew them from seeds and I am so very proud of them!

Update on Reagan

Today we had Reagan's follow up neurology appointment at Children's Medical Center.
While we were not given a solid answer to why she had her seizure, and why it was such a long one, we were given some information that will help us while they dig a little deeper.
While she was in the ER at Howard County they tested her for the flu, she tested positive for flu "a". Because of that they are ruling the seizure a femoral seizure, one that is brought on by an illness. Recent studies have shown that the seizures are brought on by the illness itself, and that the fever is just a sign of the illness.
To make sure there are no other problems we will be scheduling an MRI to check on the ventricle in her brain that has been enlarged since she was in utero. They will be checking its size as well as the tissue surrounding it.
We were also told that the doctor there had never heard of a seizure brought on by a breath holding incident. He said that that day was most likely just a "perfect storm" of events.
In regards to the breath holding that Reagan seems so fond of doing, the doctor said that that could be a result of low iron, which we know that Reagan has. So we started up the iron drops again today.
Being asthmatic, one of the scariest things for me was the fact that during the seizure her lips were turning blue. The doctor explained that during a seizure the muscles in your chest that make it move visibly don't get all the blood they need to pump to the rest of the body. She would still be breathing even though it isn't as visible as this mommy would like. This is why her oxygen level was good throughout the entire seizure.
He also assured me that seizures don't always turn out like her last one did. That the reason she was intubated was because they were transporting her and because of all the sedation she had, her airway couldn't be protected without it.
As of right now, they are saying that she should grow out of it by age five. Of course, there is always a chance that this could turn into epilepsy, but that chance is slight.
I am looking at getting CPR certified, and the doctor assured me that between that and the medicine they gave us to give her for a prolonged seizure, we are as prepared as a hospital for another attack.
So while we didn't get concrete answers, I feel like I have a bit more peace of mind. I still feel like I am "recovery" mode, but things should slowly get back to our normal level of insanity!
